Paul Simon has released a video for new track ‘The Afterlife’, which is taken from his forthcoming album ‘So Beautiful or So What’ – watch the video below. ‘So Beautiful or So What’, which is due for release on 13th June, is Simon’s twelfth solo album to date and his first in five years following 2006’s Top 10 album ‘Surprise’.

Former Fratellis frontman Jon Fratelli is to release a new single entitled ‘Baby, We’re Refugees!’ on 11th July – the same day as his debut solo album ‘Psycho Jukebox’. Fratelli recently announced plans to embark on a solo career with the release of his previous single ‘Santo Domingo’ in February. He will also be playing a couple of live dates in Preston and York next week – see below for dates and tickets. In addition to his own headlining shows, Fratelli will be performing at a number of festivals over the coming months, including T In The Park, Intro Festival in Middlesbrough, London’s Godiva Festival and Prestonpans Music Festival in Scotland.

After revealing what was supposed to be the last batch of bands for Sonisphere 2011, organisers have managed to squeeze in another five slots to bring even more music to Knebworth this summer, as well as six DJ sets to deliver raging after-hours parties.

Nick McCabe and Simon Jones, formerly of The Verve, have reunited to form a new band The Black Ships. The quartet, whose members also include Mig Schillace and Davide Rossi, have announced details of their first EP entitled ‘Kurofune’, which can be downloaded from The Black Ships’ website for free. The band will also be making their live debut next week at King’s College in London on Thursday 2nd June. See below for tickets.

Imagine it, you’re a minimalist Techno DJ spinning the vinyl at some of the country’s top clubs around the turn of the millennium. You’re rising through the ranks and then you sit down with a guitar and start making Indie music, releasing three albums of it since 2006. It’s not the usual route for the average musician, but for Fin Greenall, aka Fink, it’s worked pretty nicely.

Albums these days: They’re generally written, rehearsed, recorded, mixed, edited and put on the shelves every, say, two years or so. Bands rarely start the next album properly before bringing out the current one. Danger Mouse, however, has allowed this Rome project to slowly gestate for five full years, tweaking, perfecting, messing around with the songs, the instrumentalism, the order, everything about it, and you know what? It’s bloody fantastic.

Dr Lester Grinspoon, Associate Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School has much to answer for, as it was he who first highlighted the positive medicinal uses of Marijuana. He also lent his expert knowledge during the trial on the deportation of a certain Mr John Lennon, and latterly, on the naming of Australia’s foremost rock band, Grinspoon.

Me Vs Hero have been confirmed as special guest replacements to With The Punches on The Macbeth Stage in Leeds for Slam Dunk North this Saturday 28th May 2011. Due to unforeseen circumstances, With The Punches were forced to pull out, so Me Vs Hero has stepped in to replace them in Leeds. After a successful stint touring the UK with Skindred and Chiodos earlier this year, the band are on a roll with other confirmed slots including Powerfest in Holland and the sold out Paris and London Simple Plan dates!

Sir Paul McCartney has claimed that The Rolling Stones' Keith Richards once confessed that he was jealous of The Beatles’ impressive vocal albilities. The knighted Liverpudlian explained that Richards was jealous of The Beatles’ four singers (and their vocal harmonies) compared to the Stones’ one.
